Dear Dana,
So I tried your divinity recipe.
Is it supposed to look like THIS?????
What is wrong with me? I followed the recipe and mixed it in the Kitchenaid for an hour, I swear! Maybe I am not born to be a good candy maker! I guess I will have to wait for a neighbor or friend who IS to bring some divinity to me this year! (Dana, don't feel bad - it's ME, not the recipe!! I tried the peppermint bark, too, and dang, was it tasty! I just thought everyone could laugh about it like I did!)

Too funny! No--I am sorry--mine did not look like that! Did you cook the sugar, water and corn syrup on a really LOW temper until it got to 260 degrees? If you cook the sugar mixture too fast it won't turn out. It should take about 20 minutes for it to reach 260.
I hope it works better next time.
Dana
Hey Erin, let's blame it on the low altitude and humidity! Better luck next time!
I love divinity but haven't made it for years because half the time mine turned out like yours. My mom is a great cook but my dad will be the first to tell you horror stories about her divinity.
I feel so much better knowing I'm not the only one who struggles with divinity-ineptness. Thanks everyone!
I will also admit I am a divinity loser. It is nice to know I'm not alone also. Kris
Erin! At least you were brave enough to try! I love divinity, but fear that I won't be patient enough and ruin it!
